Cherry Bombs!

Yesterday, my power came in the form of baking. Yes, even domesticity can be powerful! My mom and I followed through on our Cherry Pie-in-a-Jar plan and made 4 of these little guys. We had a little extra too and made one to taste for ourselves. Man, this recipe sure is dad tested and APPROVED! Those cherries explode like hot little bombs in your mouth. I can just imagine them dressed in camo and helmets screaming "bombs away!" (They're British cherries, dontcha know.)

The only thing we would change is the jars; it would have been much easier to stuff the crust in if they were short and fat rather than tall and skinny (guess they have 2 1/2-pint jar options...who woulda think). We plan to make another batch, but so far these soldiers were quite impressive!

Love,
Stephanie Marie

  1. These are incredible!!! 2 questions. Where did you get the cherry pitter? I need one of those...the girls LOVE cherries. And how does the pie-in-a-jar work? Do you just throw it in the oven?

  2. 1. Crate and Barrel for $8. Mom and I both got one. They also pit olives.
    2. Yep! We added little tags to explain how it works, but basically you just take the lid off and throw it in the oven for 40 minutes. And then eat it straight out of the jar!

  3. Thanks for the info! Are some of the jars wearing little ties? They look like they're sporting menswear. Maybe because they're British;)
